Fiaterb Mefp Suspension is indicated in the treatment of fever in children. It is also useful for the treatment of mild to moderate pain of various etiologies¹²³.

COMPOSITION

EACH 5Ml CONTAINS

MEFENAMIC ACID 50mg

PARACETAMOL IP 125mg

FLAVOR Palatable Base

Side Effects:

Some common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, indigestion, and loss of appetite³

Dosage of Mefenamic and paracetamol suspension

Oral :Children above 6 months: Mefenamic acid and paracetamol are recommended in the following dosage: Mefenamic acid: 25 mg/kg daily in divided doses, or 4-6.5 mg/kg/dose every 8 hours. Paracetamol: 50-75 mg/kg day in divided doses, or 10-15 mg/kg/dose every 4-6 hourly.

6 months to 1 year: 5 ml three times daily or, as prescribed by the physician.

2 to 4 years: 2 tsf (10 ml) three times daily or, as prescribed by the physician

Drug Interactions:

Drug interactions may occur with acetyl sulfisoxazole, amiodarone, apalutamide, aprepitant, asunaprevir, atazanavir, atomoxetine, atorvastatin, boceprevir, bortezomib, bosentan, bosutinib, bromocriptine, cabergoline, carbamazepine, ceritinib, cerivastatin, clarithromycin, clemastine, clotrimazole, cobicistat, conivaptan, crizotinib, curcumin⁴.

Mechanism of Action:

Mefenamic Acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. Paracetamol is a common pain reliever and a fever reducer. It is often used to treat many conditions such as headache, muscle aches, arthritis, backache, toothaches, colds, and fevers.
